A Tradition of Service
In 2005, The Committee for Academic Excellence successfully petitioned the Hillsborough County School District to Charter a K-5 public elementary charter school - Kid's Community College Charter School, Inc. The non-profit school has grown from 50 students in it's 1st year to 224 in its 3rd year of operation and has won critical acclaim from the Center for Education Reform in Washington, DC. The school utilizes a individualized instructional approach deep rooted in differentiated instruction and Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory - creating individualized development and educational plans for each student it serves.
In 2006, The Committee for Academic Excellence successfully provided supplemental educational services to three Hillsborough County elementary schools “in need of improvement” by providing free tutoring to 21 low income students.
Launched in 2007, Project LASER represents a 3 year effort to help improve the learning environments of underserved students in area preschools by creating Early Learning Childhood Centers of Excellence in accordance with the Early Reading First initiative authorized by the No Child Left Behind act.
Following in the tradition of Project LASER, 2008 marks the introduction of Project LASER CAERS. Project LASER CAERS represents a continued effort to help improve the learning environments of underserved students in area preschools by collaborating to create additional Early Learning Childhood Centers of Excellence in accordance with the Early Reading First initiative authorized by the No Child Left Behind act.
